Listen to the Partner Seminar Series

The recording of Safe + Sound’s inaugural Partner Seminar Series, Developing a Metrics Program Aimed on Focusing on What’s Important, is now available. The American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) hosts Dean Maniatis, HSE Manager Global Refining for Phillips 66, who shares how the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries have worked to create a philosophical change in what metrics are collected to identify actual safety incidents, and incidents that had the potential to cause significant harm (i.e., near misses). There will be more Partner Seminars coming in the future that will be announced in the newsletter.

Be Safe + Sound At Work

Worker participation is engaging workers at all levels in establishing, implementing, evaluating, and improving safety and health in the workplace. Workers are a valuable partner in making the workplace safer, and they should be encouraged to communicate with management about workplace hazards since they often know the most about potential hazards associated with their jobs.

Effective safety and health programs tap into workers’ collective experience, knowledge, and insight in order to find solutions to workplace safety and health challenges. Read Be Safe + Sound At Work – Worker Participation and learn actionable ways to improve employee involvement in workplace safety.

Partner Highlight: Air Force Safety Center

Thank you to our partners at the Air Force Safety Center (AFSC) for participating in Safe + Sound Week! This is the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and the AFSC’s fourth year taking part in Safe + Sound Week. AFSC published a blog post, which encouraged units to sign up for Safe + Sound Week to receive two certificates of recognition – one from Safe + Sound and the other from DAF. Additionally, units could receive a challenge coin designed specifically for members of the Air Force. We appreciate your support!
