April 27, 2020 - May 1, 2020

CSDA members are being asked to conduct a COVID-19 Job Site Safety Stand Down during the week of April 27, 2020 by talking directly with employees and co-workers about the respiratory illness associated with a novel coronavirus, COVID-19, as well as safe work practices, protocols and company safety policies.

STEP 1: PREPARE

Gather the information you will need for the Stand Down. Utilize the new Toolbox Safety Talks (TSTs) provided by CSDA – Avoid Bringing COVID-19 Home (TST 209) or Maintaining a Six Foot Worker Separation (TST 210) – to discuss and educate employees on the hazards of COVID-19. Discuss your company’s policies and protocols to reinforce safe work practices regarding COVID-19. Include guidance from local governments or health officials that may be relevant.

STEP 2: COVER THE BASICS

Stress the importance of disease transmission safety during a global pandemic and encourage workers to following basic infection prevention measures. This Stand Down will keep workers healthy, safe and help “flatten the curve” of the spread of the virus.

STEP 3: HOLD YOUR STAND DOWN

If conducting the Stand Down digitally, attach the documents (or links to the documents) in emails or texts to workers. If the Stand Down will be in person, strictly enforce social distancing guidelines during the talk. Everyone should stand at least six feet apart and do not conduct the Stand Down with groups larger than 10. Continuously ensure workers who are on the jobsite follow social distancing and infection prevention measures after the Stand Down, including washing your hands for 20 seconds.

If you wish to promote your participation in the Stand Down, share your pictures with CSDA on our Facebook or Instagram pages (tag #csdaconcrete and #covidstanddown) or email Erin O’Brien (erin@csda.org).
